Hillside Pre-School is a place where a group of children are able to meet regularly to socialise with others. They learn how to make friends within their own peer group and with adults in the setting. For many it will be their first experience of being parted from mum, or their main carer, for a length of time. The staff aim to make this parting as easy and enjoyable as possible.
Each child is allocated to a staff member who becomes their key worker and monitors their development. Our staff are well qualified and regularly update their skills. We have experience of children with varying special needs and liase with Social Services and relevant organisations to provide the help and care they may require. This can mean employing additional staff.
Our emphasis on continuity, routine and security enables the children to develop trust, communication and new interests whilst exploring new work and topics of interest. The key worker system ensures individually tailored support in which children develop at their own pace. Our activities prepare them to progress with confidence to the National Curriculum. Development is focused on six key areas: Personal, social and emotional development; Physical development; Mathematical development; Knowledge and understanding; Language, literature and Communication and creative development.
